Horse Heaven
/I’m not overly proud of it, but our first stop in Kentucky was White Castle for sliders since Ross had never been, I had to use the bathroom and the kids were munchy. Finley literally asked ‘what’s this?’ when she saw the color of the meat in her burger.
Next up was a stop on the bourbon trail. I found a little distillery called Boundary Oaks - it had good reviews and an old truck parked out front. Happy Ross, happy Riley. Bonus points for the distillery cat! Ross did a little tasting and we picked out a couple bottles - one to keep and one to give away! It was also a nice detour off the highway before heading to the races.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing how much Finley loves horses. We tried taking the kids to the races in Hong Kong only to learn they didn’t allow minors. Ever since then, we’ve been so excited to go with Finn and Ry. We just never imagined their first race day would be at Churchill Downs!!!! It was pretty special and I can only begin to imagine what the Derby would be like.
Wow we packed a lot into 24 hours in Louisville! The next day, we got to check something else off the bucket list and tour the Louisville Slugger Factory. Ross was absolutely gitty and he even got a personalized bat - a black one of course, like Griffey and Jeter:)
After lunch and another quick distillery stop, we were off to our next state!
