Overnight in Philly then Amish country!
/We had such a lovely weekend with John and CB (and Conrad and Isa!!)! We met in London through mutual friends, John helped Ross get a job at concentra who he still works for and we all have become lifelong friends since then! It’s always so much fun to get together and we have the best adventures. First as a party of 4 and now 8!
We arrived Thursday evening to a freezing cold Philadelphia and were greeted by friendly faces and a big pot of homemade chili and beer bread. CB sure knows the way to our hearts!
After meeting up with a few of Ross’ coworkers, we headed out to Lancaster County on Friday for a short stay in the country. Man was it awesome! That part of the country is so beautiful, it made this farm girl’s heart so happy and the kids loved seeing all the animals and stretching their legs after so many hours in the car!
A few highlights:
A tour of a working dairy from the sweetest patriarch, Alfred
Buggy ride to get some homemade cookies and lemonade!
Lunch at a local market
Saying hi to all the farm animals at our Airbnb and trying our hand at fishing! Don’t worry we didn’t catch anything - I think Ross and I are collectively the worst (least patient) fishermen in the world; Finley is a lost cause
Family-style dinner at a classic Amish restaurant. I loved the buttery mashed potatoes and shoo-fly pie!
I would highly recommend Pennsylvania and Amish country to anyone ready for a change of pace and fun weekend!!
